WASHINGTON, D.C., USA – The U.S. Department of State collaborated with the World Trade Center Washington, D.C. (Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center) to host the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. The event welcomed 27 West African female entrepreneurs to a business-to-business showcase and reception to highlight the contributions of women to local economies and help end the cycle of poverty faced by many girls and women in developing countries. Caterpillar Foundation announced its partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s AWEP to create the AWEP-Women’s Entrepreneurial Centers of Resources, Education, Access, and Training for Economic Empowerment (WECREATE) in sub-Saharan Africa.
