SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - WTC Seoul hosted Jewelry Fair Korea 2014 at COEX from April 24-27 in Seoul, South Korea.

Co-hosted by WTC Seoul and nine jewelry organizations including the Korea Jeweler Confederation Associate and the Korea Jeweler’s Association, Jewelry Fair Korea was held for the twelfth time this year. With over 350 jewelry brands participating in this year’s event, Jewelry Fair Korea is the only event of its kind in Korea and has played a major role in supporting this fast-growing industry. The Fair is held annually every spring to help promote sales and exports by domestic jewelry companies, and in addition to this year’s exhibition, over 500 overseas buyers from 250 companies in 24 countries, such as China, Japan, Hong Kong, USA and Italy, conducted private business meetings with Korean jewelry company representatives.

Visitors at the event were able to enjoy and purchase fine jewelry, costume jewelry, as well as handmade accessories and casual fashion accessories. Diverse side events were also held for the duration of the Fair, including a special wedding showcase, jewelry culture exhibition, and an international jewelry design contest.

The jewelry culture exhibition titled “Tradition Meets Modernity,” featured exquisite pieces that were previously on display at the Korean Presidential residence in September 2013. Many young visitors also had the opportunity to make their own trendy fashion accessories at a DIY booth.

Furthermore, participating SMEs attended informative seminars on jewelry industry tax policies, brochure development and utilization for jewelry marketing, and trend analysis on magazine jewelry advertisements.

Chairman Duck-Soo Han of WTC Seoul said “the jewelry industry has immense growth potential as a high value-added sector which combines creativity, culture and the arts. Going forward, the Jewelry Fair will continue to showcase the best in original jewelry design, as well as contribute to the development of a world-class industry hub in Korea.”
