Ms. Carla Sydney Stone is the President of the World Trade Center Delaware, where she is responsible for leading the overall organization mission and strategy, performance, Board governance and public representation. She assumed this position after serving as Executive Director, which she joined in October, 2016. Before coming to the World Trade Center Delaware, Carla Stone was principal of International Development & Technical Assistance, LLC, a firm that works at the intersection of engineering and public health and human capacity building around the world. Previously, she led international technical assistance programs at Delaware Tech and the University of Delaware. And worked in the energy and financial sectors. Carla Stone is a graduate of Columbia University’s (New York) Henry Krumb School of Mines with a B.S. degree in Mining Engineering, Geophysics Option and M. S. degree in Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics with additional training and certificates in water and wastewater operations, safety and international project management. Ms. Stone was honored by the US Small Business Administration with the “Exporter of the Year Award”, the Government of Romania for her work during the avian influenza outbreaks, and by Cankiri Karatekin University, Turkey. She serves on the Export-Import Bank of the US (EXIM) Council on Small Business and EXIM’s Council on Advancing Women in Business as well as the Mid-Atlantic District Export Council. Ms. Stone served on the organizing committee of the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme supported “Benchmarking Telemedicine: Improving Health Security in the Balkans and was the editor of the book of the same name.
