WTCA Completed 2 Training Sessions in Asia Pacific

Jun 25, 2015

NEW YORK, NY, USA – In an effort to help jumpstart WTC operations and improve the service quality of operating WTCs, the WTCA has successfully completed two major training sessions in Asia Pacific in the first half of June with the total participation of more than 90 delegates from 43 WTCs. The programs were developed to provide systematic training in both trade services and facility management, which is critical for young WTCs in the region to succeed. Throughout the training programs, the WTCA worked closely with leading WTCs in the region to organize and deliver a core curriculum of WTCA seminars, WTC case studies/best practice sharing, interactive discussions, expert workshops and a site tour.

The 2015 WTC Trade Services Training Program (Asia Pacific) in Mumbai, India was held on June 3-5 by joint efforts from WTCA and WTC Mumbai. As the first training program ever presented in India, it attracted over 30 delegates from 21 WTCs, including 20 of a total of 22 existing Licensees in India.

WTC Mumbai was instrumental in the success of the program by agenda co-development, speaker recruitment, support in registration and logistics, and sharing of its excellence as the first World Trade Center in India. WTC Bangalore’s case study demonstrated the successful integration of a landmark facility and trade services as a private developer, which is the dominating ownership profile in Asia Pacific currently. WTC Taipei sent representatives to both the Mumbai and Beijing training programs to showcase its path to achieving best practices in all eight certification categories--unprecedented in the history of WTCA.

During the training session, speakers from WTCA Headquarters and WTC São Paulo were able to deliver presentations remotely, which opened door for future trainings over Internet. The post-event survey demonstrated overwhelmingly positive feedback from attending WTCs.

Right after the Mumbai training program, the WTCA worked with WTC Beijing and China WTC (Beijing) to deliver the 2015 WTC Management Training/Annual Conference on June 10-12. The program was conducted in Chinese to maximize the effectiveness for WTCs in the Chinese-speaking region. It was the third consecutive year that WTCA organized such a program; this year drew 60 delegates from 22 WTCs in the region.

To satisfy the unique needs of growing number of new World Trade Centers, the WTCA, for the first time in the region, offered a half-day new member orientation session on June 10 with an introduction to WTCA history, the global network, business model, Membership services, branding guidelines, the digital platform, and quality and certification guidelines. The two-day regular program focused on the development of business membership and the service product ecosystem, two major challenges this region is facing with as new generation of WTCs started to get into operation and initiate services. Leading service providers in global exhibition, innovative shopping malls and O2O/e-commerce solutions were invited to present as WTCA started its pilot program to offer value-added solutions to regional World Trade Centers.

The successful conclusion of the two training programs demonstrated WTCA’s determination to step up its efforts to achieve balance between growth and health, quantity and quality in the fastest-growing region of the Association. With the support from mMember World Trade Centers, the WTCA will continue its endeavors to provide innovative and relevant programs to strengthen the global network and fulfill its mission to stimulate trade for regional and global prosperity.
