Jun 08, 2016

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Today, on June 8, for the first time ever, the world will be celebrating the Global Exhibitions Day. The festivities are organized by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), and the project itself was initiated by Sergei Alexeyev, the first Russian president of the UFI. In this country, the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs operates as a partner of the Global Exhibitions Day. Overall, 28 national exhibition associations in America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa joined in the celebrations.

The key mission of the Global Exhibitions Day is to declare the actual role of the exhibition industry in the development of global and domestic economy, to show the significance of the sector for the advancement of business and international cooperation, to relay that idea to the authorities, the business community and the younger generation. At the same time, for the people working in the industry, the Global Exhibitions Day must become an event that will inspire them for future achievements and will help realize existing career opportunities.

Within the framework of the arrangements preparing for that large-scale event, the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF) designed an entire promotional program for the project. On the international level, a campaign involving social media was organized, as were national and international events dedicated to the Global Exhibitions Day. The World Trade Center Moscow was also actively involved in the promotion of the project and in the campaign to raise awareness of it.

In Russia, the pivotal event of the Global Exhibitions Day was the 6th all-Russian conference “Efficiency of exhibition, fair and congress activities and promotion of domestic products and services in internal and external markets.” Another key gathering was a general meeting of RUEF members at Expocentre, in which representatives of the authorities, chambers of commerce and industry, industrial unions and leading businessmen took part.
