A highlight of the Show in 2016 is the cooperation with the first-ever Velo-City Global to be held in Asia. City planners, engineers, researchers, environmental protection advocates, industry and government representatives from all over the world will gather in Taipei immediately preceding the Show, from February 27th through March 1st . Winners of the 2016 TAIPEI CYCLE d&i (design and innovation) awards, organized jointly by TWTC and TBA (Taiwan Bicycle Association) and implemented by iF DESIGN ASIA Ltd., will be on display in the Cycling Design Exhibition during the Conference. Under the theme “Riding from the Present to the Future”, bicycle product development trends from lightweight and durable materials, to user friendly designs, will turn from ideas into reality, generating momentum for the Show following the Conference.

Despite recent challenges posed by overall export decline, Taiwan cycling industry remains one of 5 hidden champions that continue to grow, and TAIPEI CYCLE plays an important role of connecting the local industry with the world. In 2015, more than 8,000 international visitors from 107 countries and areas came to TAIPEI CYCLE, with those from China (including Hong Kong), Japan, USA, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, Malaysia, Australia, and United Kingdom among the top 10. TAIPEI CYCLE is the meeting point for the global cycling industry. Furthermore, the Taipei Sporting Goods Show is held during the same time as TAIPEI CYCLE, offering buyers the rare opportunity to shop in one stop for fitness equipment, outdoors and water sports products as well.

Taiwan is well known around the world as “the Cycling Kingdom”. In addition to manufacturing high quality premium bicycles, in recent years Taiwan actively promotes bicycle-riding by building bike sharing schemes and bicycle lanes, and aims to become the Cycling Paradise. This goal is in congruence with the goal of Velo-City Global in promoting cycling lifestyle around the world. The successive staging of TAIPEI CYCLE and Velo-City Global in March 2016 fulfills the vision to join manufacturing strength with rider-friendly culture. Taiwan will be in global spotlight through bicycles.
