BHUBANESWAR, INDIA - Seminar on E-tailing stimulates MSMEs to reach out to global markets.

E-tailing is a fast emerging concept used for reaching out to the global markets with much more ease. Recent years have seen a remarkable transformation in the way the people shop and trade said Mr. B.B. Behera, Additional Secretary, Department of MSMEs, Government of Odisha. This he said while delivering the inaugural address at the seminar on “E-tailing” organized by World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in association with Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing, Department of MSMEs, Government of Odisha. Emphasising on the growing importance of the e-commerce sector he compared the outreach and technical know-how of various entrepreneurs from other states to that of the entrepreneurs of the state of Odisha when placed together on an international platforms. He advocated that an entrepreneur in order run a sustainable business has to take pace with the changing times and appreciated the organizers for having thoughtfully organized this seminar on such an importance topic.

Mr. Nayan Bheda, a serial entrepreneur and Founder of Indian School of eBusiness (ISeB), Mumbai facilitated the workshop. He not only oriented the participants on concept of e-commerce but also showcased its importance in today’s competitive era. He explained on various business models one could look at for being a part of e-tailing. Deliberating on the changing patterns of conducting business he motivated the entrepreneurs to explore the various e-business platforms like amazon, snap deal, e-bay etc. which are already in place with the required technological platform and other support mechanisms. While referring to various success stories of e-tailing businesses, he showcased how e-commerce effectively facilitates in reaching out to the right customers beyond the boundaries of the territories with much more ease. 

Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Manager – Trade Research, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in her address while deliberating on the current global scenario on e-tailing highlighted how the World Trade Centre is promoting its members on various online and digital platforms helping them to reach out to the global markets. Introducing Mr. Bheda to the audience she thanked him and the Directorate of Export Promotion & Marketing for being a part of this initiative this being the 4th program jointly organized in the past one year.

Earlier, in his welcome address Mr. B.K. Das, Director, Directorate of Export Promotion & Marketing, Government of Odisha took the opportunity to express his views on the growth of MSMEs and exports from the State and also highlighted various initiatives taken by the Directorate in facilitating the entrepreneurs on export business. 

While addressing a highly interactive question answer session Mr. Bheda tried to restrain the metal blocks and boost the confidence in the entrepreneurs to take up and explore e-commerce industry and use its platform for the successful growth and sustainability of their business. 

Over 150 delegates representing local entrepreneurs, leading companies of the State in sectors like Manufacturing, Logistics, Travel Services, Health Services, Food Processing Units, Power, Sea Food, Government Bodies and Financial Institutions attended the seminar with great appreciation.
