Saut Siringoringo, Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia with the Indonesian delegation at Panjim Goa on April 29, 2016. The meeting highlighted various ways to boost economic ties with Goa, India.

H.E. Saut Siringoringo addressed the meeting highlighting that both Indonesia and Goa should partner in promoting tourism, as there is a lot of potential for the industry. The onus is on the Indonesian Government as the current imports from India lie merely at USD 2.74 Billion, which is 23 percent of the export value at USD 11.71 Billion according to last year's statistics, he revealed. The country imports goods like Coal, Palm Oil, Cashew nuts etc., which could be sourced from the Goan manufacturers and exporters, he said. Also, Goan Pharmaceutical industry could be a huge potential for growth in exports, as well as the Educational sector, could be promoted for the Indonesian students travelling overseas, to apply in the foreign academic institutions. The political stability and the current Government's, from both the countries, stress on augmenting bi-lateral relations are the key factors to boost investors from either countries in exploring new horizons in the borderless world.

Mr Manguirish Pai Raiker recommended to strengthen trade ties further between the two countries, to accentuate 'Act East Policy' accorded by the Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi as soon as the current Government was formed. Manufacturers and SME's from both, India and Indonesia, should work in collaboration to take benefits of the Make in India campaign launched by the Indian Government. The similarity in the cultures of the two countries could be a prime focus to grow the bond between people. Ms Ambika Dhakhenkar, Asst. Mgr, WTC Goa asserted to provide full assistance from the World Trade Centre Goa to the consulate in promoting trade and businesses.
