Apr 20, 2016

SAVANNAH, GA, USA – Effingham Industrial Development Authority, a World Trade Center Savannah Founding Partner, held a ribbon cutting at the groundbreaking ceremony for the French Company, DRT. DRT has specialized in the development of rosin and turpentine extracted from pine resin since 1932. The company supplies the perfume, adhesive, rubber, chewing gum, and food supplement industries, among others. DRT has four production sites in France, one in China and three in India. The Savannah Morning News reported that the plant in Effingham will be its first in the United States. This $40 million rosin and turpentine plant will begin operations during the first half of 2017, employing 40 people. County Commission Chairman Wendall Kessler said the plant offers people who live in Effingham another place to work without having to leave the county. “Effingham County is getting put on the map again because of this company,” he said. “It sends a signal to other industries that Effingham County is a great place to live and do business.”
