The 3rd Go Africa Roundtable

XIAMEN, CHINA - The 3rd Go Africa Roundtable was held on the morning of July 21st, co-hosted by CCPIT Xiamen, China Export & Credit Insurance Company Xiamen Branch, and CCPIT Training Center. As the debut of the “One Belt One Road” Series Events by CCPIT Xiamen, the Roundtable reached a complete success, inviting 25 business representatives from over 10 African countries such as Cameroon,Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, and Ethiopia, 8 keynote speakers, CCPITs in South & West Fujian Province, and over 300 local enterprises. Altogether 15 mainstream media covered the event.

Themed on the Sino-Africa Interconnection in the Maritime Silk Road Era, the Roundtable was a feast of information for local enterprises, presenting 8 keynote speeches on some of the much concerned topics such as business environments in African countries, how to manage risks through insurance tools and banking system when investing in Africa, etc. Keynote speakers included Mr. Swanzy-Essuman Kenneth Kwame, the Executive Secretary of Ghana Commercial Chamber, Mr. Abdurehman Jemal, Deputy Consul General at the Consulate of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Guangzhou, Ms. Ying Zeng, Chief of Investment Insurance Underwriting Division II of China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, Ms. Haihai Yuan, Executive Director and Head of Corporate Finance, Standard Chartered Bank (China) Ltd., Mr. Hongfu Lin, Vice President of Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd., Mr. Simon Shen, President of Southern African Fujian Overseas Chinese Association, Mr. Jiayu Cao, Vice President of Xiamen New Start Group, and Mr. Sean Xiao, Deputy General Manager of MIE Events JLT. Onsite matchmaking talks were also held in the second part.

The Roundtable also released White Paper of Xiamen-Africa Trade & Investment 2014, introducing the Xiamen-Africa bilateral investment and trade and state quo of local enterprises to invest in Africa, and awarded Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. and Xiamen XMGA International Trade Co., Ltd. as Africa’s Most Valued BrandsAward for their inspiring and courageous exploration in Africa. In addition, a RMB 200,000 COIC Educational Funds was set up at the Roundtable as the scholarship for talented students in foreign trade and economy related majors.

Mr. Wensheng Lin, Deputy Mayor of Xiamen Municipal Government attended the Roundtable and delivered the opening speech. Mr. William Su, Chairman of CCPIT Xiamen, COIC Xiamen, and WTC Xiamen presided over the Roundtable and awarded the new members of COIC Xiamen and Africa’s Most Valued Brands Award 2014.
