CCPIT Xiamen led enterprises “Go Australia”

On December 8, based on the signature of China-Australia Free Trade Agreement, CCPIT Xiamen and Austrade co-host “Go Australia—A Win for Business and Consumers”. Mr. Su Yuqun, Chairman of CCPIT Xiamen, COIC Xiamen, and WTC Xiamen, presided over the activity.
Mr. Zhong Xingguo, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Xiamen Committee, delivered the welcoming speech on the meeting. He pointed out that, the Xiamen and Australia had close economic relations and huge cooperation potential. The meeting would definitely bring the bilateral cooperation to a new high.
During the meeting, Ms. Julie Anne Nichols, Senior Trade Commissioner of Austrade and Deputy Consul-General of Consulate General of Australia in Guangzhou, gave the interpretation of the ChAFTA; Mr. Wang Chengjie, Director of Legal Affairs Department of CCPIT, introduced the policy of the FTA and the implementation of FTZ strategy; Mr. Henry Wang, Senior Investment Commissioner of Austrade, gave a blue print of investing Australia for the enterprises; Mrs. Evelyn Xie from Tourism Australia, introduced the ChAFTA’s positive influence on Australia; and Ms. Chen Rong, Vice President of Passenger Marketing & Sales Committee o Xiamen Airline, demonstrated the benefits brought by newly opened Xiamen-Sydney and Fuzhou-Sydney air routes.
After the speech, COIC Xiamen held an awarding ceremony for its newly-established liaison office in Melbourne. Xiamen Chamber of International Commerce Liaison Office in Australia (Melbourne) is the 18th liaison office of COIC Xiamen. Representatives from related Chinese and Australian departments and enterprises witnessed the ceremony. In the coming year, CCPIT Xiamen and COIC Xiamen will continue to establish liaison offices in Xiamen’s major trading partners and investment destinations, especially countries along the “Maritime Silk Road”.
The meeting invited Austrade, Tourism Australia, representatives from offices in China of 5 Australian states, CPPCC Xiamen committee, Administration of Xiamen Pilot Free Trade Zone, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal Government, Xiamen Customs District People’s Republic of China, and Xiamen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and gave people a deeper understanding of ChAFTA through keynote speeches, policy consultation and goods display.
