WTC The Hague awarded BREEAM-NL In-Use Excellent

Feb 21, 2017

THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS - World Trade Center The Hague, owned by Bouwinvest’s Office Fund, is the first multi-tenant building in the Netherlands to be awarded a BREEAM-NL In-Use Excellent sustainability certificate. Apart from offices, the building also has a hotel, apartments, restaurants, a supermarket, a gym, and an art gallery. It has evolved into a centrally located meeting point for international and regional companies. The certificate is recognition of Bouwinvest’s efforts to optimise the sustainability of its funds.

In December 2016, the World Trade Center was awarded a double ‘excellent’ in both BREEAM’s ‘Asset’ category and in the ‘Management’ category. To minimise the building’s ecological footprint, the building has been fitted with a heat storage system and other energy saving technologies. The building is also made of sustainable building materials and 100% of its energy consumption comes from renewables. The building had already been awarded an ‘A’ EPA-U level energy label in 2010, and the BREEAM certificate is further recognition of the efforts made to make the WTC building as sustainable as possible.

WTC The Hague

The World Trade Center The Hague is an iconic building in The Hague’s Beatrixkwartier area. It offers flexible work spaces and services to small and large companies, making it the region’s leader in multi-tenant buildings. In 2015, the Office Fund started making further improvements to WTC The Hague. The entrance lobby was completely renovated to become a node of facilities and an attractive and dynamic place to meet. WTC The Hague’s slogan ‘work - meet - leisure - connect, all under one roof’ says it all.

BREEAM-NL

In the Netherlands, BREEAM-NL is the premier building assessment system. BREEAM-NL In-Use for existing buildings encourages organisations to continuously improve and to demonstrate the progress they make in attaining environmental standards. Its independent evaluation and certification recognises buildings on the market that have a low impact on the environment. It sets performance standards and criteria that go beyond legal requirements, and challenges the market to deliver innovative, cost effective solutions.
