WTC Clubs visit Damen Shipyards

Sep 19, 2014

The business clubs of the WTC’s Rotterdam and The Hague organize regularly a company visit for their members. On September 10 a group of 55 members of both clubs paid a visit to the headquarters of family run Damen Shipyards in Gorinchem, one of the most successful Dutch industrial companies. Damen Shipards runs 32 own shipyards all over the world and builds over 180 vessels per year. These vessels vary in type: tugboats, fishery ships, dredgers, offshore vessels, patrol vessels etc.

Of the annual turnover of 1,8 billion USD 58% is being generated in Europe and 42% in the rest of the world. The turnover consists of new building (70%), repair (14%) and services, components and building on site (16%). One of the main characteristics of the business concept of Damen Shipyards is that they have a big stock of vessels (150), which makes it possible for them to make fast deliveries to customers.

After a tour on the site the visit was concluded with drinks, plenty of time to socialize and explore possible cooperation opportunities.

We thank Damen Shipyards for the hospitality and a successful company visit!
