WTD Nashik - Businesses Keen to Join GVCs

MUMBAI, INDIA - World Trade Centre (WTC) Mumbai in association with Ambad Industries and Manufacturers’ Association (AIMA) organized the 2nd in series World Trade Day Maharashtra in Nashik on May 22, 2017. Mr. Radhakrishnan B., I.A.S, Collector & District Magistrate who was the chief guest of the event presented on the topic 'Export Orientation Programme for MSMEs’. He said, “I encourage local entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises to explore export opportunities for their products and services in addition to domestic sales. AIMA and WTC Mumbai must train local entrepreneurs to participate in international trade. International trade not only creates employment opportunities but also ensures overall economic and social development”.

The Collector further said that this year was the first in the history of Nashik that received a record annual credit allocation of Rs 10,000 crore for the development of industries. “I propose to allocate a part of this corpus to WTC Mumbai and AIMA for promoting international trade from Nashik,” the Collector added.

Mr. N.D. Thakare, Chairman-Export Committee, AIMA proposed the central government to set up a local branch of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Nashik.

Professor Mr. Arvind Khedkar, Faculty, World Trade Centre Mumbai Institute conducted an interactive session on how entrepreneurs can promote exports by adopting appropriate product pricing and packaging strategies.

Mr. Anindya Pal, Deputy General Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India, Nashik Branch created awareness among participants about the financing schemes of his institution.

The event also featured a presentation on EXIM Mitra Scheme by Ms. Sunita Sindwani, General Manager, EXIM Bank of India

Mr. A. O. Kuruvila, Advisor-Trade and Education, WTC Mumbai highlighted the importance of World Trade Day (WTD) a pioneering initiative which WTC Mumbai has brought to India. The initiative is organized by World Trade Centers and Trade Promotion Organisations across the globe. He also mentioned that a series of programmes on international trade across regions in the state of Maharashtra are being organized in cities such as Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Kolhapur which started from May 18 up to May 27, 2017 as part of the WTD Maharashtra.

Ms. Nilima Patil, Vice President, AIMA, Mr. D. A. Dixit, Chairman - Seminar Committee, AIMA, Mr. Ramesh Pawar, Chairman of Export Import Association of Nashik and Past President, AIMA graced the occasion.
