Thai Delegation Visits WTC Mumbai

MUMBAI, INDIA - Thai delegation from Ministry of Industry and University of Thai Chamber of Commerce had a sit on meeting with WTC officials on June 24, 2015 at WTC Mumbai.

Veerasak Supprasert, Director of International Industrial Economics, Ministry of Industry and Asst. Prof. Dr. Aat Pisanwanich, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, UTCC lead the delegation. Other members of the delegation were:

Chalee Khansiri, Plan and Policy Analyst, Ministry of Industry, Suparat Punchalard, Lecturer, UTCC, Orawan Nugprachaya, Lecturer, UTCC, Thanita Rerkrudeekul, UTCC and Kaewkoan Phaoenchoke - Thairoong Union Car Company.

The delegation exchanged views in detail on 3 sectors of their interests in Mumbai/Maharashtra: rubber and rubber products, automobile, spare parts, and electric appliances/ electronics and components.

M F Vohra, Chairman, Chemical and Allied Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL) Rubber Products Panel & CMD, Zenith Industrial Rubber Products Pvt Ltd explained in detail about the status of rubber sector in India, which is the 4th largest in the world. He has also spoke at length exploring the areas of co-operation with Thailand.

Ninath Ranade, Dy.Director, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) briefed about the electrical and power sector in the State and invited the delegates to visit the forthcoming ELECTRAMA expo to explore the potential of the Country in this sector.

In his welcome address Vijay Kalantri, Vice Chairman, WTC Mumbai spoke of the bilateral relations between India and Thailand. He also highlighted the great potential of the two countries for increasing trade. Kalantri encouraged Thailand to join the initiatives of “Make in India” and “Smart City” programmes of Govt. of India and make use of the large business opportunities that are emerging. Kalantri mentioned that the present bilateral trade of US$ 14 bn. between the two countries can be doubled in next five years by through these initiatives. There are lot of opportunities emerging in the infrastructure sector such as Road, Rail and Port which also can be explored by Thai companies for investing in India.
