Gansu Province Explores Business in India

MUMBAI, INDIA - World Trade Centre Mumbai hosted an interactive meeting with a high level business delegation from the Province of Ghansu which was led by Mr. Wang Junxu, Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gansu at World Trade Centre Mumbai on November 25, 2015.

Mr. Junxu said, that the Province of Ghansu is looking at India as a future market in sectors such as oil and chemicals; infrastructure, new energy and wind power; agriculture; tourism and mineral resources. He further informed that the main aim of the visit of his delegation to India is to explore co-operation in agro-products.

He informed that the total production capacity of both wind and power together is 170 million kilowatts. In the agriculture and agro products sector the Province is strong in rice and black pepper production. Mr. Junxu invited the World Trade Centre Mumbai to the Investment and Trade Fair held every year in the month of July in Ghansu’s capital city of Lanzhou.

Mr. Kalantri, Vice Chairman, World Trade Centre Mumbai informed the delegation that the Indian government is promoting ‘Make in India’ and the Maharashtra government is pursuing ‘Make in Maharashtra’. In this regard, he suggested manufacturers in the Province to explore investment opportunities in Maharashtra. He added that there are various advantages in setting up manufacturing plants in India which are availability of cheap labour, availability of finance etc. he also added that raw materials could be sourced from China while manufacturing can be done in India.

The Indian government is also improving the ease of doing business to simplify the regulatory and administrative procedures in order to encourage foreign companies to invest in India. Mr. Kalantri brought to the attention of the delegation members the Indo-China bilateral trade volume, which is $80 billion, and suggested them to explore business opportunities in India.

Mr. Kalantri assured the delegation that India would send its delegation to the annual trade fair so that Indians can explore business opportunity in that country.
