Expert advises SMEs to use IPO boom for funding

World Trade Center Mumbai and All India Association of Industries, organised a knowledge session on ‘Raising Equity through SME IPO’ where speaker CA Sumeet Mehta, CEO, Paradigm Advisors, highlighted the opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to utilize the current boom in the primary IPO market amidst rising bank loan interest rates.

Mr. Mehta advised SMEs to consider raising equity capital on dedicated SME platforms like the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). He noted the success of SME IPOs on these platforms, emphasizing the benefits such as improving credit rating, corporate governance, and market perception. Mr. Mehta also outlined essential procedures for SMEs before and after listing their shares, underscoring the need for professional management and strategic decision-making.

During the session Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, WTC Mumbai stressed the importance of equity capital for SMEs in achieving economic growth, highlighting the funding gap and the need for simpler compliance norms.

Ms. Rupa Naik, Executive Director, WTC Mumbai, presented the vote of thanks and emphasized the significance of exports and entrepreneurship in driving economic growth. 

The event aimed to raise awareness about the opportunities for SMEs to raise equity capital through IPOs and was attended by entrepreneurs, banking professionals, investment analysts, and consultants.
