Achievements of WTC Mumbai highlighted at APRM

Mr. Y.R.Warerkar, Executive Director, WTC Mumbai highlighted the major achievements of WTC Mumbai at the Asia Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) held during the WTCA Member Seminar in New York City in October 19-22, 2014. He emphasized the stable Government in India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, which has restored confidence in the business community. The 4th Global Economic Summit organized by WTC Mumbai from 11th to 13th September, 2014, on the theme “Asia Powering Global Markets” was a great success which was attended by over 500 delegates. Eminent experts and dignitaries highlighted the trade potential of the continent and stressed on the need for infrastructure development facilities which can further enhance the potentials of Asia.

Mr. Warerkar highlighted the support WTC Mumbai is rendering for the establishment of WTC Navi Mumbai which is an emerging industrial destination where investments in manufacturing and service sector are expected to receive greater fillip due to the development of the International Airport and townships being planned by the Government. He mentioned that the recently launched WTC Bhubaneswar, supported by the Government of Odisha has gained prominence due to the Chief Minister’s active role in announcing this establishment. Since inception, WTC Bhubaneswar has organized industry specific program on international trade for enhancing exports, followed by a global outsourcing program conducted by UNPD. A panel discussion on “Odisha’s Exports - Sail towards a better future with International Trade” will be addressed by a panel of experts and is being organized by WTC Bhubaneswar in association with Business Standard, a leading media house in the country.

Mr. Warerkar also elaborated the other initiatives of WTC Mumbai in Jaipur and Goa. Discussions are in good progress with the State Govt. of Rajasthan for setting up of WTC Jaipur. Bureau of Investment Promotion and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation are two nodal organizations of the State Govt. of Rajasthan that have offered assistance and support to WTC Mumbai in this endeavor. The WTC Goa has a tremendous potential to create linkages between industry, academia and the Government. Discussions are in full swing with the State government of Goa and propose to start operations shortly by organizing industry specific program.
In conclusion Mr. Warerkar informed about the 5th edition of the Global Economic Summit to be organized by WTC Mumbai in November, 2015 focusing is on Agriculture and Food Processing. The theme is “Enabling Food for All”. This program will cover a wide gamut of agro and agro based industry and focus on sustainable agriculture. He invited all WTCs present there to support the endeavor to organize this event successfully through this global network of the WTCA.
