MDP on India's FTP: The Road Ahead

The Management Development Programme on 'India's Foreign Trade Policy : The Road Ahead' has been conceptualised to be a curtain raiser to the Institute’s flagship course ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Foreign Trade’ which will enter the 64th batch scheduled for end April or early May 2021.

The importance of this MDP has increased manifold especially due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with the Government of India further extending the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 (FTP 2015-20) until September 2021. On completion of the MDP, participants will be better informed and equipped with the knowledge that affects the global marketplace.

The MDP sessions have been drawn up, keeping in mind the information required by businesses across all sectors with a focus on the FTP. The sessions will help participants understand FTP which aids international trade and further assists businesses to get ahead in the world economy. The programme is equally useful for both working professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs focused on pursuing international business by accessing global markets.

The topics covered in the first session are India’s FTP over seven decades, objectives of FTP, broad categories of FTP, incentives and schemes, Role of WTO in international trade, etc. In the second session, the topics covered are overview and objective of international business, concepts of international marketing, entry strategies for international business, promoting international business beyond Special Economic Zones (SEZs), etc.
