LEXINGTON, KY, USA - The World Trade Center Kentucky (WTC-KY) announced today that Kentucky’s Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles has confirmed his attendance to the Kentucky International Trade Summit (presented by UPS). In addition to his attendance, Commissioner Quarles will be welcoming Summit attendees at the keynote and awards luncheon.

“We’re excited that Commissioner Quarles has agreed to attend the Trade Summit,” said Ed Webb, President and CEO of the WTC-KY. “Kentucky’s varied agriculture industry is a key component of the State’s economy and accounts for a large percentage of our exports. The Commissioner’s devotion to bringing more agribusiness jobs to the Commonwealth is essential to maintaining its future economic stability.”

According to the Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism, “The equine industry creates nearly 100,000 direct and indirect jobs and plays an important role in state tourism, valued at $8.8 billion. Animal agriculture, including poultry and cattle, represents 32,700 jobs. The State’s farmer’s markets create outlets for large and small farms to sell their crops, and the Kentucky Proud promotional program has generated $250 million in retail sales through member retailers over the past three years.”

Commissioner Quarles will be joined by the following business leaders as speakers at the Trade Summit:
• Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton, Commonwealth of Kentucky
• Philippe Garnier, CEO and General Manager Safran Landing Systems
• Douglas George, Consul for the General Consulate of Canada
• Kris Kimel, President of Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation

The Trade Summit (formerly World Trade Day Kentucky) is the largest gathering of trade professionals in the State. Organized by the WTC-KY, the event is attended by political figures, international dignitaries and guests, budding entrepreneurs, as well as business executives from across the Kentuckiana region. Online registration for the Sept. 13, 2016 event is open through Friday, Sept. 6, 2016.
