Communications Infrastructure for Smart Cities

BENGALURU, INDIA - Twenty-first century communications infrastructure refers to the advanced network of cables, towers, and antennas needed to meet new demands and to prepare the state’s networks for the future generation of digital communications. These advancements will support broadband and mobile internet connections that are high speed, high capacity, reliable, ubiquitous, and secure. By leveraging an improved communications infrastructure, cities will foster economic growth and improve the lifestyle of citizens.

On 3rd May 2017, over fifty practitioners and leaders from the public and private sector attended SCIF’s Communications Infrastructure for Smart Cities workshop to discuss the advancements in communications infrastructure and how cities could benefit from it. The workshop was held at the World Trade Center Bengaluru.

The session was inaugurated by Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of IT/BT and featured eminent speakers from Tejas Networks, IISc Bangalore, IIIT Hyderabad and IEEE.
