WTCA NY Chief Scott Ferguson Visits WTC Mumbai

MUMBAI, INDIA - Mr. Scott Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer, World Trade Centers Association New York (WTCA NY) was on his third visit to India to examine the best practices being followed by World Trade Centers (WTCs) in India and to also increase the number of licensees.

During a meeting held on May 5, 2017 with key officials at WTC Mumbai, Mr. Ferguson said, “The priority of WTCA NY is to promote member engagement. The success of it will depend on how well we engage with our members and understand their businesses for which we have adopted a strategic plan. The plan involves launching the ‘Info Share’ programme which profiles detailed member information. Besides, the existing certification programme is under review, so that our members could benefit from the existing 316 World Trade Centers in 88 countries connecting one million businesses across the globe.”

“Members of WTCA NY offer different services such as trade promotion events, while some others offer real estate services along with trade promotion. WTCA NY will understand the requirement of each member and provide them the required support for better growth of business opportunities”, Mr. Ferguson added.

Speaking about World Trade Centers in India, Mr. Fergusson said,” I am excited about the potential growth opportunity for licensees in India and the best practices employed by World Trade Centre Mumbai.”

Mr. Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, WTCA, NY said, ”This meeting is a great chance to receive feedback about member engagement from WTC Mumbai. We can address the issues raised during the meeting and improve the services of the Association. We are excited about the best practices of WTC Mumbai and we wish to emulate them in other centers as well.”

Mr. Vijay Kalantri, Vice Chairman, WTC Mumbai and Board Director,WTCA NY said, “WTC Mumbai is the first Indian member of WTCA NY and its objective is to grow international trade by connecting Indian companies with potential partners in other countries. The Indian economy has tremendous growth potential with the launch of Government of India’s Make in India, Digital India, Skill India and other initiatives.”

Mr. Kalantri also suggested that WTCA NY must offer incentives to WTCs that increase the number of members in their countries or regions. He said WTCA NY must aim to increase membership to 500 in future.

Capt. Somesh Batra, Vice Chairman, WTC Mumbai informed about the trade promotion activities and services of WTC Mumbai. He mentioned that WTC Mumbai receives around 75 trade missions and organizes around 60 exhibitions annually.
