WTCA New York aims for 100 WTCs in India

The WTCA, one of the largest global business networks, can complement the WTO in promoting trade by leveraging inputs from private businesses," stated Mr. Robin Van Puyenbroeck, Executive Director - Business Development, WTCA, during a meeting with WTC Mumbai. Recognizing WTC Mumbai's pivotal role in promoting international trade in India, he highlighted its emergence as a model for other WTCs nationwide, emphasizing the importance of WTC Mumbai's leadership in the brand's success within the country.

Mr. Van Puyenbroeck identified India's potential for expanding the WTC brand, aiming for over 100 WTCs in the country and expressing eagerness to collaborate with Indian trade promotion organizations and government bodies to promote India as a global trade hub.

Mr. Scott Wang, Vice President - Asia-Pacific, WTCA, expressed enthusiasm for India's diverse culture and outlined plans for organic growth, focusing on delivering quality services to potentially surpass 100 WTCs in the country. He also commended WTC Mumbai's role in the success of the Global Business Forum.

Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, WTC Mumbai, proposed a three-tier classification system for WTCs to enhance regional inclusivity and advocated for establishing a WTCA regional office in India to support its rapid growth. He emphasized the importance of communication within the organization and suggested the adoption of a criteria-based licensing model for WTCs.

Capt. Somesh Batra, Vice Chairman of WTC Mumbai, reiterated the commitment to support WTCs globally and suggested WTCA's involvement in international summits for increased exposure. He highlighted the government's role in facilitating cooperation among businesses globally.

The meeting was followed by signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WTC Mumbai and WYC Shenyang (China) for mutual cooperation in promoting trade and investment between the two countries  

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Sharad Uapasani, Vice Chairman, WTC Mumbai; Mr. Ajoykaant Ruia, Vice Chairman, WTC Mumbai; Ms. Rupa Naik, Executive Director, WTC Mumbai; Ms. Christina Shen, Principal, WTC Shenyang and other members of Council of Management.
