On February 27, 2024, the World Trade Center Lisbon organized an event that brought together nine cachaƧa de alambique (artisanal cachaƧa) producers from the state of Paraƭba, Brazil, with some of the most relevant Portuguese import, distribution, and retail companies. The event, held in partnership with the CNC (National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism), FecomƩrcio Paraƭba (Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of Paraƭba), Sebrae Paraƭba (Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Businesses of Paraƭba), and the Government of the State of Paraƭba, aimed to develop the market for cachaƧa in Portugal.

CachaƧa de alambique is a type of cachaƧa made using traditional methods. It is a versatile spirit that can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails. In Brazil, cachaƧa is often consumed with feijoada (a traditional black bean stew) or in caipirinha (a cocktail made with cachaƧa, lime, and sugar). However, the WTC Lisbon event aimed to showcase the complexity and sophistication of cachaƧa, positioning it as a premium beverage that can be enjoyed in a variety of settings.

The event featured a series of business meetings between the cachaƧa producers and Portuguese companies. The WTC Lisbon strategically selected a mix of importers, distributors, and retailers who have a proven track record of developing new markets. This was evident in one instance during the event, when a buyer from a major retail chain tasted one of the cachaƧas and immediately turned to the representative of an import and distribution company and said, "If you bring this in, I'll buy it." This spontaneous endorsement from a potential customer underscores the effectiveness of the WTC Lisbon's approach.

The event was a success, with both the cachaƧa producers and Portuguese companies expressing their satisfaction with the results. The WTC Lisbon is committed to promoting international trade and investment, and this event is a prime example of its efforts to connect businesses from different countries and create new opportunities.
