Information Sharing Session - Air Cargo Operations

Air Cargo Operations play a pivotal role in the economic development of a region as it enables nations to effortlessly connect to international market and global supply chains in a reliable and elevated manner. It is crucial for implementing best international business practices including in-time inventory management and build-to-order production.

In order to facilitate seamless and continuous export/import operations through Cargo Terminal, Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, World Trade Center under the Export Facilitation Cell by the MSME Department, Government of Odisha organized online interactive sessions with export regulatory agencies for exporters/importers/aspiring exporters to learn and gain clarity on the SOPs to be followed for Air Cargo Operations.

On day one of the session, Mr. Sachidananda Patnaik, President, Customs Brokers Association deliberated on the custom regulations and documentation. He gave a detailed presentation on the basic as well as the critical aspects of every export/import consignment.

Second day of the Information Sharing Session witnessed a detailed presentation on Export Regulations by Dr. Bharat Majhi, Deputy Director, Export Inspection Agency. He deliberated on role of EIA, Notified Products, carton selection and distribution, sampling plan / scale, list of major test equipments, parameters and methods used for microbiological section, quality control and method verification, testing facilities for food products and validation protocols as well as criteria.

Dr. Adam Kamei, Plant Protection Officer, Regional Plant Quarantine Station (RPQS), Kolkata deliberated on the Phyto-sanitary requirements of importing countries for export and certifications. He deliberated on export inspection flow, online process in PQMS for certification, NPPO Website links, timelines for plant quarantine activities, time schedules for clearance of export consignment and other related topics.

The session witnessed a highly interactive Q&A session.

Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Center Bhubaneswar moderated the session and proposed the vote of thanks.
