Discovering a new market: Algeria

TRADE MISSION OF WTC METZ SAARBRUCKEN  TO ALGEST, INDUSTRIAL SUBCONTRACTING EXHIBITION IN ALGIERS FROM 14 to 16 November 2022

ALGEST, under the patronage of the Algerian Ministry of economy, was organized by the "Bourse Algérienne de Sous-traitance" in collaboration with the WTC Algiers. This industrial subcontracting exhibition is a business networking tool that serves the national strategy of increasing the power of the industrial sector in the country's economic performance. The aim is to maximise industrial integration.

The WTC Metz-Saarbrücken delegation represented the Eurométropole de Metz as well as its economic Agency Inspire Metz and companies based in the Greater Region.

The mission had several objectives :

1 - First acquiring reliable and detailed information on the business environment in Algeria, on  the current legislative framework concerning import-export and the establishment of foreign companies in Algeria. Measures already taken by the government during the last few years and their future adaptation are a clear incentive for foreign companies to  come and set up.

2- Identifying the growth sectors:  the Algerian Ministry of Economy has identified the automobile sector as a strategic one. The objective is the development of a real automobile industry - with a minimum integration rate of 40%.  Next are the decarbonated and alternative energies; hydrogen is also a priority for R&D in Algeria, which has undeniable competitive advantages in terms of energy costs regarding the production of hydrogen. The third growing sector will cover professional training and technical education as a determining criteria for the development of local IPTs and SMEs.

3- Next objective was to put in contact companies looking for a diversification of their sourcing with industrial subcontractors and thus, to encourage new partnerships between local SMEs and foreign companies.
