CTA Convenes Health Care Stakeholders on AI

Mar 21, 2024

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, together with a diverse group of health care associations and coalitions, is releasing “What is Health AI?”  brief. The paper is the first step in creating a common understanding among regulators, developers, and public health stakeholders about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health care system.

CTA convened multiple organizations, including prominent trade associations representing payers, providers, and digital health technology companies, to develop and share resources with policymakers to advance safe, trustworthy, and effective AI applications in healthcare.

“For AI to improve patient outcomes and create a more sustainable and accessible health care system, federal policy must support both the continued innovation and safe use of AI,” said René Quashie, vice president of Digital Health at CTA. “The health industry has a responsibility to inform effective policy. We are proud to work with this outstanding group of health care industry leaders to share our common language about health care AI. Together, we are ensuring that policymakers have the information they need to develop thoughtful policy during this critical time of modernization of our health care system.”

“What is Health AI?” is the first in a series of briefings and outlines how AI could reshape health care, providing examples of current applications of AI in the field. In 2024, CTA will release three additional white papers exploring topics related to health and AI, including data privacy, bias, and reimbursement. CTA will engage in future collaborations with the health care industry to develop additional educational resources.
