Building on Centrallia’s Momentum in the Americas

Sep 23, 2016

WINNIPEG, CANADA - WTC Winnipeg played host to a delegation from Salvatierra, Mexico this past September. The delegation was comprised of business leaders and government officials from the dynamic Mexican city of Salvatierra, and travelled to Manitoba, Canada on an exploratory mission.

The objective of the mission was to connect SMEs in rural Canada with SMEs in rural Mexico – a great example of how free trade can be leveraged by the rural business communities in our countries. The WTC Winnipeg facilitated the mission that was driven by Mercator Mundi, a Mexican-American food importer, and HyLife, a local pork company.

Canada and Mexico retain strong business relationships due to important ongoing collaborations. Business leaders and government officials were given the opportunity to discuss common objectives that will in turn lead to direct investment and stronger trade between both regions.

“Facilitating the incoming delegation from Mexico was a natural fit for the WTC Winnipeg. This past May, we organized a breakout session with a spotlight on the Americas during our international business-to-business forum Centrallia. We want to continue to build on that momentum as there are many opportunities available to our Manitoban companies,” explained Alberto Velasco, Trade Development Manager at the WTC Winnipeg.
