Faces of Diplomacy: A Preview Exhibit

Apr 16, 2015

Washington, DC, USA â€“ The World Trade Center Washington, DC hosted a preview exhibit of the U.S. Diplomacy Center, highlighting talented Americans who are the face of our nation. The United States Diplomacy Center (USDC) will tell the story of American diplomacy and why it matters. Through its interactive exhibits and challenging educational programs, viewers will be able to learn about our relationships with other nations and the work carried out by the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) which is headquartered in our Center. Currently under construction, the USDC will open at the State Department in 2016.

Faces of Diplomacy featured spotlights on commissioned Foreign Service Officers who manage our diplomatic relations around the globe, Foreign Service Specialists, Civil Servants, Development Specialists, locally engaged staff, and many others who labor tirelessly in support of our nation’s interests at our diplomatic missions around the world. Several initiatives from USAID were showcased to illustrate how the United States ties diplomacy to development as the twin pillars of American foreign policy efforts around the world.

While they come from various regions, have different educational backgrounds, and perform a wide variety of duties, diplomats of all types promote peace and prosperity on behalf of the American people – and that unites them in their purpose. In the videos accompanying the stunning life-size photographic portraits, each tells his or her own story of why they serve their country. The U.S. Diplomacy Center is a public-private partnership with the Diplomacy Center Foundation. This exhibition was organized by the U.S. Diplomacy Center, U.S. Department of State, and generously funded by Wallis Annenberg and the Annenberg Foundation through their support to the Diplomacy Center Foundation.

Faces of Diplomacy was featured in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center’s gallery from February 4- March 11, 2015.
