Taiwan trade fairs in China top 10 million visits

Jul 14, 2015

TIANJIN, CHINA - The accumulated number of visits to the Taiwan trade fairs in China, organized by the World Trade Center Taipei, topped 10 million during this year’s Tianjin stop, and marked a milestone in business relations across the Taiwan Strait.

The Tianjin Taiwan Trade Fair took place at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center from July 2-5, 2015. It was the largest of its kind for 2015, featuring 11 image pavilions and 12 industrial categories.

WTC Taipei, Taiwan's main trade promotion body, has so far held a total of 39 such fairs, including the latest one in Tianjin, in China’s major 21 metropolitans since 2009. These trade fairs have shone in cities such as Beijing, Chongqing and Guangzhou, generating nearly US$15.1 billion in business and recording over 10.17 million visits in total.

Trade fairs “not only promote trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait but also enhance the closely bonded joint relationship among the people from the both sides,” said WTC Taipei Chairman Francis K.H. Liang at the opening ceremony. They also greatly help Taiwanese small- and medium-sized firms establish themselves in China, he added.

This year, the Tianjin Taiwan Trade Fair once again featured the latest premium products and services from Taiwan, including green technology devices, sports equipment, health-related goods and creative products. During the four-day period, the fair attracted 405,000 visitors and generated US$490 million in business.

The next Taiwan Trade Fair is scheduled to kick off in the city of Nanjing on September 18 and run for a period of four days.
