Montreal delegation visits Savannah, Georgia

SAVANNAH, GA, USA – On November 16-17, World Trade Center Savannah, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), and Georgia Power welcomed a delegation from Montreal, Canada. The delegation included Mr. Michael Fratianni, CEO of Montreal Gateway Terminals, Alexandre Galarneau-Micone, Associate from Axium Infrastructure Inc., along with a group from The Fonds de Solidarité FTQ for an introductory tour of Savannah, the Port of Savannah, and distribution centers close to the port. Members of the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ include Jean Wilhelmy, Senior Vice-President Aerospace, Construction, Services and Transportation; Louis-Joseph Cliche, Investment Advisor - Aerospace, Construction and Transportation; Gilles Poulin, Senior Director, Investments - Aerospace, Construction, Infrastructure and Transportation; and Jacques Grégoire, Portfolio Manager - Transportation, Logistics and Infrastructure.

The Fonds de Solidarité FTQ is a Québec development capital organization whose overriding mission is to invest in local businesses to further the economic development of all the regions of Québec. With net assets of roughly $11 billion, the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ has become a hub of knowledge and resources for Québec businesses and a key player in the local economy. The Fonds de Solidarité FTQ has invested in roughly 2,500 companies, including Montreal Gateway Terminals and was recently mandated by the Quebec government to look at developing logistics parks and distribution centers. Montreal Gateway Terminals is a leading operator at the Port of Montreal and owns two terminals, Cast and Racine, which have operated since 1969 and 1978, respectively.

During their visit, the delegation was able to tour Nordic Logistics & Warehousing, Matson Logistics, as well as the Canadian-headquartered company, Dorel Industries. The Montreal Delegation also visited the Georgia Ports Authority’s Port of Savannah, which is currently the fourth largest and fastest growing port in North America.
