Gulfstream named WTC Savannah Intl. Business

Oct 24, 2014

SAVANNAH, GA, USA – On Oct. 8, Gulfstream Aerospace was named the 2014 World Trade Center Savannah International Business of the Year at the Business Expo and Awards Luncheon hosted by the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and the Savannah Morning News.

This award recognizes companies that excel in international trade and acknowledges the importance of trade to the Savannah region’s economy. The World Trade Center Savannah International Business of the Year Award is presented to encourage and recognize exemplary corporate leadership for international business or trade that advances relations between the U.S. and other nations as well as creates quality jobs in the Savannah region.

Founded in 1958, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is the world’s leading manufacturer of technologically advanced business aircraft. Gulfstream moved jet production to Savannah in 1967 and currently has more than 10,000 employees based in Savannah. Earlier this year, Gov. Deal presented Gulfstream with the Georgia Manufacturer of the Year Award. Following the receipt of the award on Oct. 14, 2014, the company announced a new family of business jets offering features that enhance cabin comfort and the efficiency and speed of the jets. The G500 and G600 jets are estimated to be finalized for delivery in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Gulfstream is the ideal recipient for the World Trade Center Savannah International Business of Year Award due to their role in helping make the Savannah region an even larger participant in international trade. With substantial growth in revenue over the past three years, Gulfstream exemplifies the ability to successfully shift sales from domestic to international while continuously remaining true to their core values.

The contending nominees for this award included Fulfillment.com, Nordic, Firth Rixson, and International Dunnage. All companies promote international and economic prosperity for the greater Savannah area, however, Gulfstream stood out in the process due to their ongoing accumulation of international growth, new service centers worldwide, and their constant drive to be an international leader in the aerospace industry.
