The Consulate General Of Mexico In Miami Has Work Meetings With Institutions In Palm Beach County
The Consulate General of Mexico in Miami and Palm Beach County institutions agreed to foster the economic, trade, tourism, health, and education ties for Mexico and the community of Palm Beach.
On January 28th, the Consulate General of Mexico visited Palm Beach County in southern Florida to strengthen the dialogue with local authorities and diverse institutions in the economic, commerce, tourism, health, education, and community affairs sector.
The visit was headed by the Consul General of Mexico, Jonathan Chait, and the county's Vice-mayor, Robert Weinroth, who participated in underlining the interest in strengthening the collaboration with Mexico on issues such as economy, trade, and culture.
The meeting was held at the Palm Beach Tourist Development Council. It was organized in collaboration with the World Trade Center of Palm Beach and the non-profit organization, Hispanic Entrepreneur Initiative (HEI).
This encounter had the honorable presence of the Palm Beach Tourist Development Council, Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Baptist Hospital, Hispanic Human Resource Council, Discover Palm Beaches, Port of Palm Beach, Boca Raton Regional Airport, Palm Beach International Airport, Keiser University, Lynn University y Palm Beach State College. There was also a tour of the facilities of the community organization Hispanic Human Resource Council and the Keiser University Campus in the area.
As a result of this visit, product exchange was highlighted in the economic and trade sector and they explored possible maritime routes to the region. Tourism will continue to be promoted in both ways. Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals' valuable attention to patients in the county was emphasized, like Baptist Hospital who is receiving and vaccinating patients. In the education issues, the Consulate General will seek to work with the school district to support students of Mexican-origin and promote their access to higher education.
Mexico's presence in Palm Beach is substantial. According to the American Community Survey, more than 50,000 Mexicans nationals of first and second-generation live in the region, with a robust agricultural community in Lake Worth and Belle Glade. It is also noteworthy the presence of Mexican origin companies in the county, such as CEMEX USA, CMX Cinemas, and Bimbo Bakeries.
