Partnership between Metz-Saarbrücken and Trieste

Jun 01, 2023

WTC Metz-Saarbrücken is excited to present its exceptional collaboration with WTC Trieste on June 8th, during its French-Italian and cross-border Business Lunch.

This professional event, scheduled during the four-day long BellissiMetz festival organized by the City of Metz, founding member of WTC Metz-Saarbrücken, represents the perfect opportunity to highlight the WTCA network and the economic relationship between the two countries and these two regions (Moselle-Saar and Friuli Venezia Giulia) in particular.

WTC Trieste's CEO, Mrs Cristina Sbaizero, will address the participants on the market opportunites in Northern Italia and tips to prospect new partnerships.

There are historical ties between our regions starting in the 15th century with Venetian merchants and traders who were organized in family structures and developed innovative business and banking techniques. Along the commerce route to the Netherlands, Venetians merchants settled in Metz and largely contributed to the development and the cross-border influence of the Republic of Metz. The architectural heritage bears witness to this.

The Italian presence in Lorraine became massive at the end of the 19th century with the multiplication of fortification projects and the discovery of iron ore. In the space of just a few years, the region became one of France's most important areas of immigration, and the arrival of an abundant Italian workforce to meet the growing need for workers led to the metamorphosis of urban areas in which Italians concentrated. This led to the emergence of the "Little Italies".

Metz and the cross-border region are celebrating this French-Italian culture and entrepreneur spirit! We are proud of our shared history and achievements and our WTCA network is part of this celebration!
