LOS ANGELES, CA, USA - On June 16th and 17th, World Trade Center Los Angeles partnered with LAEDC to launch its second-annual SELECT LA Investment Summit in Los Angeles. The Summit, which is a prelude to SelectUSA, brought hundreds of L.A.-area business leaders and executives together with foreign investors and consulates to better understand investment opportunities in L.A. and the greater Southern California region.

SELECT LA kicked-off on June 16th to a crowded VIP Reception in Fox Studios’ exclusive Backlot, and the Summit conference followed on June 17th at JW Marriott in Downtown L.A. The Summit featured keynote speeches from elected officials, executives and industry leaders. Many luminaries made noteworthy remarks on the importance of FDI and trade in L.A. including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, L.A. County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, and U.S. Commercial Service Director General Arun Kumar.

The conference hosted four panel discussions led by exceptional industry leaders in entertainment, real estate, infrastructure, and technology, in addition to three breakout sessions. The breakout sessions featured WTCLA’s seminal Foreign Direct Investment in Southern California report, LAEDC’s International Trade Outlook report, and a New Forms of Media Entertainment discussion panel that emphasized L.A.’s current golden age of content production.

Speakers, panels, and breakout discussions emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment into L.A. as a means of integrating ingenuity and entrepreneurship and retaining a diverse market. The two-day event distinguished L.A. as a successful destination for investment. L.A. is entrepreneurial, highly-educated, culturally and economically diverse, and a source of growth and innovation. This is why investors and businesses are increasingly choosing to select L.A. as the preferred site for new and innovative projects.

WTCLA extends a warm hand of appreciation to its SELECT LA sponsors: JPMorgan Chase & Co., Fox Studios, American Airlines, Los Angeles Times, China Daily USA, Hurun Report, East West Bank, O’Melveny & Meyers, Gemdale USA.
