South Korean Journalists visit WTC Las Vegas

Apr 01, 2014

LAS VEGAS, NV, U.S.A. - South Korea’s capital city is launching a large scale transformation to entice more business in the growing Asia-Pacific meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibition (or MICE) market. In an effort to learn more about how Seoul’s growing MICE market may translate into career opportunities in South Korea, two popular journalists from The Korea Economic Daily newspaper, the second largest business daily in South Korea, traveled to Las Vegas to conduct interviews with MICE experts. Mr. Jung Woo Yoo and Mr. Seon-Woo Lee met with executives at some of Las Vegas’ largest resorts as well as World Trade Center Las Vegas representative and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Vice President of Global Business Sales Chris Meyer.

“The MICE industry can be an exciting career path for young Koreans,” said Meyer. “There are so many opportunities, and Las Vegas is proof that a successful MICE industry can create and sustain tens of thousands of jobs in a community.”

MICE delegates represent more than five million business travelers a year to Southern Nevada, and the industry helps sustain employment for more than 61,200 people. Meyer added that on the global front, learning about and working directly with international commerce helps build trust in business which often translates into building trust with other countries.

Las Vegas has been named as the No. 1 trade show destination in North America for 19 consecutive years, hosting 53 of the top 250 shows. Being able to freely exchange information and success strategies beyond international borders is one of the many values of being part of the World Trade Centers Association.
