Doing Business with South Africa Market Briefing

KANSAS CITY, MO, USA - The World Trade Center Kansas City will be hosting Ambassador Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu for his first visit to Kansas City on July 14th. The ambassador will lead a market briefing on doing business with South Africa, and will also be joined by Consul General Vuyiswa Tulelo and Ms. Donnadelliah Maluleke. This presentation will include an economic briefing and discussion of bilateral trade and investment opportunities for the fields of aero-space, agricultural business, automotive, energy, and other growing sectors.

Mr. Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, commonly known as ā€œMJā€ by his colleagues and friends, is the current Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to the United States of America having been presented his credentials on 23 February 2015. His public and political life started in the late 1960s when he was elected President of the Student Christian Movement, in the then Eastern Transvaal. After the first democratic elections in 1994, he joined the National Assembly in the Parliament of South Africa as a representative of the African National Congress. He became a member of the Constitutional Assembly (CA), the body that drafted the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

Ms. Donnadelliah Maluleke has extensive experience in trade and investment promotion and facilitation, investment analysis, market and financial feasibility study development, local economic development plan and deal structuring. Ms. Malulekeā€™s key responsibility includes: promoting South Africanā€™s exports and increase trade of product and services in the Midwest, attracting foreign direct investment into SA by high labor intensive industries in order to increase skills and employment for South Africans, encourage partnership in economic ventures between the two countries, and seek out technological methods that will enhance innovation in SA industries.

Consul General Vuyiswa Tulelo hails from Kimberley in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. She started her schooling in Kimberley and graduated from grade 12 in Kimberley.

She continued her studies at Wits University where she majored in Politics and Sociology and was elected as President of the Student Body in 1999-2001. Consul General Tulelo continued participation from high school in the ANC YL and led it in the following areas: Member of National Executive Committee, 2000- 2001, Deputy Secretary General, 2001-2004, 2004-2008 (she was the longest serving female in that position), and Secretary General, 2008- 2011.
