WTC Goa Organizes Seminar on Improving Quality

GOA, INDIA - World Trade Centre Goa in association with MSME Development Institute, Margao organised a Seminar on "Improving Productivity and Quality for MSMEs", on February 28, 2017 at Vasco da Gama, Goa. The objective of the seminar was to empower the MSMEs in improving overall Productivity and Quality and the Financial Support offered to MSMEs in ZED Certification Scheme.

The Seminar was conducted by Mr. Sumant H. Mathure, ZED Empanelled Consultant by QCI, and Mr. P P Kulkarni Asst. Director, MSME DI, Goa.

In his address Mr. Sumant H. Mathure, gave a detailed background of the purpose, aim, and objective of the ZED Certification Scheme. The ZED certification, he said, will create awareness in MSMEs about ZED manufacturing and motivating them for assessment of their enterprise for ZED rating. It will drive manufacturing with adoption of Zero Defect production processes without impacting the environment (Zero Effect) and will encourage MSMEs to constantly upgrade their quality standards in products and processes and to support the “Make in India” campaign. He explained the ratings of each of the 5 parameters. The levels ranging from struggler, which is level 1, to beginner, organised, achiever that correspond to level 2, 3, respectively. The topmost level is world class at level 5. The final ratings provided in the ZED Model, would be Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum.

Mr. Kulkarni, highlighted the key role of the MSME Institute Goa, being an apex body of MSME New Delhi, for extending techno-managerial and economic consultancy services for the development of the small scale industries. He further, informed the audience about the various initiatives taken by MSME to promote ease of doing business, with the introduction of the new UAM system replacing the former complex process of filling EM part I & II. He also mentioned the limits for investment in plant/machinery/equipment for manufacturing/service enterprises, their categories, types and investment. Earlier, Mr. Cyril Desouza, Asst. Director WTC Goa, in his welcome address highlighted the objective of the seminar which is to empower the MSMEs in Improving Productivity and Quality and he also apprised the participants of the initiatives that the World Trade Centre here in Goa is implementing for the benefit of the MSMEs in accessing the International Market.
