EDMONTON, CANADA - Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Join Forces to Promote Responsible and Innovative Use of Natural Resources

Today, the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce are highlighting the important work done by resource champions like Peace Power and Kinder Morgan to lead the way in Canada’s natural resource sector.

“Canada is fortunate to have access to such a bounty of natural resources, but even more privileged to be able to count on champions that develop our resources in a responsible way. By using new technologies and original procedures, companies like Peace Power and Kinder Morgan are ensuring that Canada can lead the way in the production and use of natural resources, a sector that accounts for over 1.8 million jobs in Canada,” said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “These are the stories we need to tell, the examples we need to set. By presenting a positive message and engaging an honest and open discussion with Canadians, we can leverage our natural resources into an important economic advantage.”

Peace Power is a small, northern-Alberta based power company that provides energy to Albertans in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner. As customers continually look to green their energy consumption, Peace Power has a plan to provide them with that choice. Peace Power customers are able to buy “green energy” that encourages the further development of renewable energy facilities. This innovative option allows customers to make a difference by investing in renewable energy sources, such as bio-power, solar energy and wind power.

Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain Expansion Project is vital for our region producing economic and environmental benefits to transport Alberta’s energy products to global markets. This project will further enable the safe and efficient transportation of oil to the west coast, where it can be shipped to customers in Asia and beyond. The Edmonton Chamber applauds the National Energy Board’s report on this Project, and will continue to work with the federal government to see this nation-building project approved.
