MEET JAPAN 2023 IN VN: SUSTAINABLE COOPERATION

On the afternoon of September 8, the "Meeting Japan 2023" event took place at Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center (Vietnam), which was co-held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Government of Yamaguchi Provincial and the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. This event aimed at emphasizing the closer cooperative relationship between Binh Duong province, Japanese partners in particular and between the two countries in general. For Binh Duong, these are also the next steps for the province and Japanese partners to continue developing cooperation programs on economy, investment, science and technology, cultural-sports exchange and smart city development in the coming time.

Close cooperation

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Minh Vu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that 50 years since the establishment of official diplomatic relations, Vietnam - Japan relations have continuously grown, become more durable and achieved many outstanding achievements. The two countries have achieved deep political trust, effective and practical cooperation in all fields. Especially, in economic cooperation, Japan is always the most important partner of Vietnam. Vietnam always upholds its role as a leading investment destination in the region, attracting more attention from Japanese businesses. Binh Duong is a typical example of this trend. These good results have contributed to strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan and are a solid premise for the two countries to continue exploiting new cooperation potential, cultivating a strong and reliable cooperative relationship for the next 50 years in an ever-changing world context together.

After 50 years of accompanying the historical periods of fine and brilliant development in diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the cooperative relationship between Binh Duong and Japanese partners has also developed strongly, deeply, widely and effectively. Japan has become one of the most important and reliable partners in many fields of Binh Duong province. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu believes that based on the potential, outstanding strengths and solid foundation of existing cooperation with Japan, Binh Duong will continue being an ideal destination for Japanese investors in the next years.

Positive effect

Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh city said that with a highly appreciated investment environment and strong development potential, Binh Duong province is also an investment destination for many foreign enterprises. Up to now, there are more than 300 Japanese enterprises operating in the province. In recent years, with the construction of new buildings and plazas with Binh Duong new city as the center, Binh Duong province is expected to attract more and more Japanese citizens and enterprises, thereby becoming a center for Japan-Vietnam exchange in many fields.

Regarding local cooperation, since establishing friendly cooperative relations in 2014, Binh Duong and Yamaguchi provinces have actively implemented exchange activities, strengthened friendly relationships and expanded economic cooperation cooperation, trade and investment promotion in the fields of foreign affairs, education, training and cultural exchange...Muraoka Tsugumasa, Governor of Yamaguchi province affirmed that the cooperation and exchange between the two localities during the past time reached outstanding and remarkable results. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of cooperation, he wished that the fine relationship between the two localities will develop to new heights, contributing to the development of Vietnam and Japan.

Towards future

Speaking at the conference, Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People's Committee expressed his joy and pride of achievements done by the two sides in developing relations between Vietnam - Japan in general and Binh Duong - Japan in particular. The "Meet Japan 2023" event aimed at emphasizing the closer cooperative relationship between Binh Duong province and Japanese partners.

As of now, Japan has ranked second among 65 countries and territories with investment projects in Binh Duong province with 351 projects, total capital of nearly US$5.93 billion. Most Japanese companies and transnational corporations, namely Panasonic, Toshiba, Foster, Tokyu, Fujikura Company, Aeon Mall Vietnam Co.Ltd.,…have so far had investment projects in Binh Duong.

Japanese investors have continued strongly investing in infrastructure facilities, urban areas, trade and services... These projects have contributed to promoting the local socio-economic development. Becamex Tokyu joint venture is a model of cooperation between Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises in general and Binh Duong enterprises in particular.

Sharing about sustainable development cooperation towards the future, Mr. Minh said that the "Meeting Japan 2023" event is an opportunity for Binh Duong province and Japanese partners to jointly evaluate the results of cooperation over the past time, set out orientations for cooperation in the future while promoting economic diplomacy activities, attracting investment capital as well as popularizing the images of the parties and strengthening the relationship between Binh Duong province, Japanese localities and partners.

Provincial People's Committee Chairman emphasized that provincial authorities at all levels have always created all conditions for the business community in general and the Japanese business community in particular to conduct production, business and trade activities. Binh Duong wishes to continue getting the support and cooperation of the Japanese business community to accelerate the local socio-economic development.
