Pennie Bingham

Pennie Bingham, Executive Director, World Trade Center Charleston

Pennie Bingham has been an executive with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce since 2004. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Business Advancement and Executive Director of World Trade Center Charleston. In these roles, she is responsible for creating a business climate that advances the growth of business in the Charleston tri-county region. This includes developing programs and providing resources that facilitate entrepreneurship, minority business development, business expansion and retention, talent development, innovation and the growth of global trade.

Prior to these positions, she was a Market Research Analyst and Information Central Manager for Ryder Truck Rental in Miami, Florida; Village Administrator/Treasurer for the Village of Huntington Bay in New York; and CEO of Arbordale Associates (a consulting firm specializing in business and marketing strategy development and deployment) in New York and South Carolina.

She has served on the Minority Business Partnership Leadership Council; New Carolina’s Entrepreneurship Task Force; South Carolina International Trade Coalition; and American Chamber of Commerce Executives Diversity and Inclusion Council. In addition she was a founding member of the board of directors for SC Launch, President of the Board of Directors for Laubach Literacy International of Miami, Florida, a mentor for The Citadel, an advisory Board member of the Lowcountry Graduate Center, and on the Board of Directors for the Family Service League of Suffolk County.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Florida International University, is a graduate of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Charleston Program and Furman University’s Diversity Leadership Institute. In addition, she holds certification from the South Carolina Economic Developer’s Institute and the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management (IOM).

Bingham has received the Knowledge Economist Award from the South Carolina Research Authority, was among 10 winners of the 2008 Innovator of the Year Award for the ThinkTEC Initiative from the Charleston Regional Business Journal, and has been named Staff Member of the Year with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.
