Yalp Winner of Export Award Eastern Netherlands

Nov 28, 2016

TWENTE, NETHERLANDS - On October 27, 2016, the annual granting of the Export Award Eastern Netherlands was organised for the 9th time. This event determines which company in the Eastern part of the Netherlands has achieved great results and can be seen as an example for other companies when it comes to internationalization and exporting strategy. After downsizing the subscriptions to 6 short list companies, a decision had to be made on which companies would be nominated to win the award. Eventually the companies Esschert Design, Yalp and Xsens were selected as the 3 companies that would compete on this evening, in order to win the award.

The nominated companies were asked to prepare a 2 minute pitch in which they would explain and pitch their export strategy. Hereafter the jury members had the opportunity to ask a few questions. Due to an excellent pitch and straight to the point answers and the information acquired from the previous company visit and subscription paper, the jury decided Yalp was the winner of the Export Award Eastern Netherlands 2016. Yalp is a global distributor of sport- and play appliances around the world. Yalp creates inspiring surroundings which challenges young and old people to start exercising, but in which it mostly focuses on having fun.
By winning, Yalp received a market scan in a (European) country of their choice, sponsored by Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the World Trade Center and the Award itself. Besides this, all three nominees received a WTC Twente Business Club membership lasting for a year. With this membership the companies can make use of the activities and services of the Business Club. The Export Award can be seen as a stimulants price, fitting with the mission of the WTC: to enhance and boost international trade and economic growth. Nochey, a company who produces nutritious products with the addition of mealworms (i.e. crunchy deep-fried meatball), won the incentive price as a stimulants for the company to go international. In between the pitches and the granting Mr. Geert Braaksma, chairman of the Twente Board, was interviewed about the internationalisation of the Twente Region. The event was concluded with a winner's drink in the Metropool venue.
