WTCSav Hosts Virtual Delegation from QuƩbec

May 28, 2021

The excitement of a new Spring has sprung as World Trade Center Savannah (WTCSav) recently hosted a business delegation from QuƩbec, Canada. However, for the first time, this trade mission was 100 percent virtual. Canada is Georgia's largest trading partner and one of WTCSav's six target countries, making the country a strategic internal focus to complete the mission of attracting investment and creating jobs by growing trade. World Trade Center Savannah led conversations with two Canadian business organizations, the QuƩbec Government Office in Atlanta and Invest QuƩbec, to explore opportunities for trade and investment. After months of vetting and coordination, Invest QuƩbec selected nine innovative companies to participate.

Companies invited to participate in the mission represented the sustainable logistics technology space and sought trade and/or investment opportunities in the United States. World Trade Center Savannah secured more than 50 B2B meetings for the two-day virtual mission.

The mission kicked off with a welcome from Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and QuƩbec Government Office in Atlanta's Acting Delegate Mr. Eric Marquis. "There are tremendous trade and business opportunities between QuƩbec and Georgia," said Marquis. "Working with a great partner like World Trade Center Savannah has enabled QuƩbec companies to reach out to their counterparts in the peach state and to showcase the many innovative products and services that they have developed, which should make our respective port and logistics sectors even more competitive globally."

Participants received an overview of WTCSav services and offerings as well as the business assets of the region. Leadership from Cargo M, Dorel and Logistec joined the conversation to share their experiences as Canadian companies successfully doing business in the Savannah region. Georgia Ports Authority Business Development Director and WTCSav Board of Directors Chairman John Petrino was present to share news from the Port as it related to the delegates' understanding of the region. This welcome session was followed by two days of individual B2B meetings where Canadian company representatives had the chance to pitch their products and explore opportunities for sales, collaboration and partnership with Savannah-based organizations.
