WTCNO hosts 2nd Annual Trade Gala

NEW ORLEANS, LA, USA - The World Trade Center New Orleans hosted its 2nd annual international trade gala on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the National WWII Museum to celebrate the international business community in Louisiana and the rise of Louisiana as a leader in global trade.

Some of the developments this past year at the World Trade Center New Orleans that were highlighted during the opening remarks included the Mississippi River Alliance, the launch of the New Orleans Arbitration Center, the Trade Services Department and trade research service, and a new partnership with the Export-Import Bank of the United States. 

“In recent years we have been very active to promote our state and our members businesses by being part of many activities that helped our members to promote their exports and increase their volume and bottom line,” World Trade Center New Orleans CEO, Dominik Knoll said.

The annual gala held on November 15th was also to honor Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., MD, for his outstanding service in international business and diplomacy for the state of Louisiana. The award presented for his outstanding service was the Eugene J. Schreiber Award which is given to individuals who have demonstrated the highest levels of public or private service for the state of Louisiana. 

“Our recipient has a passion for trade that goes beyond the day to day work of promoting business in Louisiana. He has a genuine interest in the theory underlying American trade policy,” Hon. Edward T. Hayes, WTCNO Vice Chairman said.

The guests in attendance represented a diverse group of industry leaders, companies, professional organizations, and government institutions. Other guests in attendance who were recognized were the Honorary Consuls for the state of Louisiana including the Honorary Consul of Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, Canada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 

Sponsors of the World Trade Center New Orleans Annual Louisiana International trade Gala included Chevron, Cheniere Energy, the Port of South Louisiana, First NBC Bank, Iberia Bank, Ocshner Health System as well as many others.
