WTCA Attended CCPIT Summit 2025

On May 22, Mr. Luciano Montenegro de Menezes, WTCA Vice Chair-Secretary and CEO of WTC Lisbon, attended the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025 hosted by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Beijing, China on behalf of WTCA Chairman John E. Drew and the WTCA Board of Directors. He was joined by Mr. Scott Wang, WTCA Vice President, Asia Pacific.

With the theme “Embracing the Era of Digital Intelligence, Collaborating for Shared Development,” the summit gathered business leaders from international institutions, trade promotion agencies and companies, as well as renowned entrepreneurs and experts to engage in-depth discussions on topics including: Empowering Global Industrial and Supply Chains – Digital Intelligence for Security, Stability and Collaboration; Digital Intelligence Driving an Open and Fair Innovation Ecosystem; Global Trade and Investment Cooperation in the Era of Digital Intelligence; and Partnering with China: Unlocking Shared Opportunities. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng presented in the opening ceremony and delivered the keynote speech.

Speaking on the panel “Global Trade and Investment Cooperation in the Era of Digital Intelligence,” Mr. Montenegro de Menezes cited the long-lasting partnership between WTCA and CCPIT for 40+ years, including eight WTC operations in China owned or managed by CCPIT local branches, and proposed further cooperation with CCPIT on all levels. He then commented on the huge impact of digital transformation and how digital technology is bringing integration and interconnection of global economies, societies and cultures, which benefits global trade and investment. Mr. Montenegro de Menezes was interviewed by major Chinese media at the Summit.

During his trip, Mr. Montenegro de Menezes also attended the 2025 WTCA Chinese-Speaking Regional Meeting and delivered welcome remarks at the opening session on May 21.
