Jan 19, 2023

The WTCA Asia Pacific Regional Office hosted two webinars to introduce the upcoming 2023 WTCA General Assembly (GA) to its members in the APAC region. The webinars targeted Chinese-speaking and English-speaking World Trade Center businesses separately. 57 delegates from 31 WTCs and partners attended the webinars.

The WTCA General Assembly (GA) is the association's premier annual event, gathering representatives from member World Trade Center (WTC) locations and their business networks. With the theme of "Towards African Economic Integration and Enhanced Global Presence", the 2023 WTCA GA will be hosted by WTC Accra on April 23-28, and focuses on business opportunities across the continent of Africa, bringing together new and expanded opportunities not only to/from Ghana, but all nations. The exclusive roster of attendees includes leaders from business, government and international organizations.

Mr. Edem Kofi Yevutsey, Executive Director of WTC Accra, updated the audience about the GA with an introduction of Ghana and the business opportunities of the vast African continent especially under the AfCFTA with major sectors for investment. He also introduced the general itinerary of the week-long GA and extended invitation for WTCs and their business communities to find partners in Ghana and other African countries. His speech was followed by a GA promotional video which well demonstrated the attractions of Ghana and the continent.

Mr. Milan Ramjee, WTCA Membership & Business Development Consultant - Africa & Middle East, shared his insights on how to leverage Accra GA to access African markets.

At the Chinese-speaking webinar, Ms. Christina Shen, President of WTC Shenyang, shared their detailed plan for a GA trade mission and invited other WTCs to join.

“We are very excited about the upcoming WTCA General Assembly in Accra, particularly the return of in-person component which would make it so much easier to enhance the network connectivity. It is also a great opportunity to facilitate the B2B activities given the ongoing momentum of trade and investment between Africa and Asia Pacific,” said Mr. Scott Wang, WTCA Vice President, Asia Pacific.
