WTC Winnipeg: Preparing for Europe

Jan 01, 2015

WINNIPEG, MB, CANADA - Catching up on the latest news on the European market and taking advice from those who are already there – this is what the WTC Winnipeg is offering in its new series of conferences entitled “What’s in it for EU (you)?”.

The World Trade Centre Winnipeg (WTC Winnipeg) wants to help Manitoba entrepreneurs break into the European market. In November, the organization launched its brand-new speakers series entitled “What’s in it for EU (you)?” as part of its European Union Market Access Program (EU MAP), during which Manitoba entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to discuss with European market experts as well as other entrepreneurs who’ve already experienced it.

“Targeting the European market makes a lot of sense to us!” says WTC Winnipeg President and CEO, Mariette Mulaire. “One-third of the world’s WTCs are located in Europe, so that network is already established. Furthermore, our French-English bilingualism is a great asset, and we’ve already shared a lot with European companies in numerous missions in the past.” She also likes to remind people that “the European market comprises more than 500 million consumers! We have to take advantage of it because a free-trade agreement is being signed between Canada and the European Union (EU).”

“To succeed in the European market, you have to be truly conscious of this particularity and do a lot of research to make sure your product meets the specific needs of the area you’re targeting,” said Ag Growth International (AGI) Vice-president, International Sales, Shane Knutson. “It’s a matter of finding the right region and consumers that best match what you’re offering.”
