WTC Seoul Organized 1st East Asia WTC Forum

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - With the assistances of WTCA Beijing Representative Office, the WTC Seoul (KITA or Korea International Trade Association) successfully organized the 1st East Asia WTC Forum on December 3-5, 2014.

Invited by WTC Seoul, 33 delegates from 17 WTCs from Chinese speaking region, 2 WTCs from India and 1 from Canada joined WTC Seoul in a series of official events during Korea Grand Sourcing Fair 2014, which included:

  • Opening Ceremony & Site Visit
  • East Asian WTC Dialogue
  • Global Sourcing Seminar & East Asian WTC Forum
  • The 51th Trade Day Ceremony & Reception with the presence of President of Republic of Korea Her Excellency Park Geun-hye and other senior government/business leaders
  • COEX presentation & WTC Seoul Tour

Mr. Han Duck-soo, Chairman and CEO of WTC Seoul/KITA, attended the Opening Ceremony and addressed the delegates at the East Asian WTC Dialogue. Mr. Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, WTCA, attended the events and delivered the keynote speech on “Economic Cooperation in Asia and roles of WTCs” at the Forum which was attended by Korean business leaders from all industries. WTC Bangalore, WTC Jiaxing and WTC Winnipeg also shared valuable insights and best practices.

The 51th Trade Day Ceremony offered the WTC delegates a perfect opportunity to join their fellow Korean colleagues to celebrate the achievements in trade. The reception brought prominent Korean business leaders together with the delegation for further communication. After that, the COEX team made an upbeat presentation about the Mall and guided the delegation to a site tour of WTC Seoul, which was a nice demonstration of the MICE cluster project at WTC Seoul.

WTC Seoul also set up a WTC booth at the exhibition area for WTCs to promote their facilities and services. The participating WTCs gave a high mark for the productivity of the trip and the hospitality of WTC Seoul. Many WTCs expressed strong interest in coming back and bringing business members next year.
