WTC New Orleans Hosts Tyson Foods’ Hal Carper

NEW ORLEANS, LA, USA – On June 23, 2014, the World Trade Center New Orleans (WTCNO) hosted Tyson Foods Executive Vice-President for Strategy and New Ventures, Hal Carper. Carper discussed Tyson’s current business model, future regarding mergers and acquisitions, as well as growth and expansion potential of Tyson’s international brand and market.

In Carper’s presentation, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a company’s core values through time. In the case of Tyson Foods, Carper reiterated having the resourced to feed the world, satisfying global demands for economical protein while using innovative methods to reach diverse and changing audiences.

“We are focused on managing and diversifying our core. A lot of times when you go out and work to build your business, it can take you into places that are so much different from what you already do and you take your eye off the ball from what got you there. We are always very disciplined about managing the core when we go into spaces of adjacency; not the just the core of business capabilities but the core of integrity in business practices and how we conduct ourselves,”says Carper.

Hal Carper was the first of four speakers in the Executive Speaker Series (ESS) for 2014. Created to expose Louisiana businesses to insights from national industry leaders, the series allows local establishments more opportunities to develop their networks while learning about best practices within their industry.

The next speaker in the Executive Speaker Series will be Jack Gerard, President & CEO of the American Petroleum Institute. This event will take place in the Westin New Orleans at 11:30 a.m.
