WTC Mumbai – Sustainability & Global Standards

Aug 12, 2025

World Trade Center (WTC) Mumbai has consistently demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, implementing initiatives that align with the global environmental standards advocated by the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA). These measures not only reduce our ecological footprint but also set a benchmark for green commercial operations in Mumbai. Key Sustainability Measures 1. Renewable Energy Leadership • 350 kW rooftop solar installation generating ~35,000 units/month, meeting 30% of the building’s energy needs. • Expansion to 830 kW underway, making it one of Mumbai’s largest rooftop solar projects. 2. Comprehensive Waste Management • Source-level segregation of dry and wet waste. • 25% of daily waste converted into compost for on-site landscaping. • Installation of a plastic bottle crusher to aid recycling. 3. Water Conservation via STP • 200 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant processes 120 KL/day. • 80 KL of treated water reused for gardening and cleaning, cutting municipal water usage by 40%. 4. Energy-Efficient Infrastructure • Japanese heat-resistant paint with SRI 114 to lower indoor temperatures, reduce AC load, and cut power use. 5. Promotion of Sustainable Mobility • Today we also inaugurated Two 60 kW EV DC Fast Chargers installed to encourage electric vehicle adoption among tenants and visitors. We had our very famous Scott Wang to do this honor . Conclusion Through renewable energy, waste management, water reuse, energy-efficient technologies, and sustainable mobility, WTC Mumbai is actively aligning with WTCA’s sustainability vision. These initiatives not only ensure compliance with global green building standards but also reinforce our role as a leader in fostering an environmentally responsible business ecosystem.
